Chaos Bleak formed in March 2019 after conversations held between friends in a pub about what sort of music they wanted to do, and how to go about it! The band is a sort of ‘gothic super group’, comprising ex members of different underground 90s UK goth bands. Musically they bring all their experience to the table creating a highly spiced dish of adrenalin fuelled musical chaos!

The band do not follow the traditional Sisters of Mercy approach to goth, rather they simultaneously reach back to the post-punk period that predates SOM. A time of Killing Joke, Play Dead, Bauhaus, Siouxie and the Banshees. They also embrace the 90s technology driven sound of the German bands of that era such as The Garden of Delight, Still Patient? The House of Usher mixed in with even older, darker, heavier, and otherworldly sounds. Some of which are considered not of this Earth…

The result is music that is unrestrained, powerful, and varied. One reviewer described Chaos Bleak as a “Black Sabbath for the gothic generation”, another described the band as Space Rock meets the heaviest of Gothic Rock and another said that the band’s music has the potential to create “Earthquakes, spatial anomalies or in extreme cases rips in the very fabric of time itself.” High praise indeed!
