Vølve is a theatrical fusion dance project inspired by tales, history and art on the Norse Völve. It’s a project performance with dancers from different European countries, who have all been part of Dud Muurmands Pateron-community. They come together in a collaboration with the artistic direction from Dud Muurmand.

The process started spring 2023, when Dud brought them together to work in a process of creating a dramatic, storytelling dance piece with theoretical source inputs from history, mythology and fiction work as well as other artistic interpretations. The project was further documented by the participants on video and the outcome was released in September 2023, featuring the amazing work the dancers have accomplished.

Uma Obscura will be the first time when this performance is set up for a live audience, led by Dud Muurmand. It will be presented by Alenka Neurand (Germany) Hege Slettemeås (Norway) Madeleine Holmlund (Sweden) and Dud Muurmand (Denmark).

Vølve är ett teatraliskt fusionsdansprojekt inspirerat av konstverk samt historia och berättelser om den nordiska völvan. Det är en föreställning som är resultatet av att dansare från olika länder i Europa, som alla varit del av Dud Muurmands Patreon-community, sammanstrålat i en kreativ process.

Det hela började våren 2023 när Dud erbjöd dem att delta i ett danskurs-projekt med den fornnordiska völvan som tema, att forma ett dramatiskt, berättande dansverk med teoretisk input från historia, mytologi, fiktion och andra konstnärliga tolkningar. Resultatet av den fantastiska resa som dansarna gjort tillsammans under perioden dokumenterades därefter på film som del av projektet och filmen släpptes i september 2023.

Nu kommer nästa steg i processen då Vølve-projektet kommer uppföras live av dansare under årets Uma Obscura. Medverkande dansare är: Alenka Neurand (Tyskland), Hege Slettemås (Norge), Madeleine Holmlund (Sverige) och konstnärlig ledare Dud Muurmand (Danmark).
