What an amazing weekend! This edition of Uma Obscura goes down in legends! Art Obscura – Dance Obscura and the many great music acts – all delivered outstanding and high quality performances! Thank you – and thank you to all our visitors – volonteers – crew – partners & sponsors – people working on and off the stages to making this festival come alive!

Uma Obscura 2025 also serves as a statement to what is possible – when given some trust and resources to the alternative subculture communities from our funders!

We will now try to get some well deserved rest but we will be back with more updates, pictures and more from this year’s edition!

We are proud to announce that Uma Obscura now carry the EFFE label. EFFE stands for Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe, a program initiated by the European Festivals Association (EFA) to connect and recognize arts festivals across Europe. It provides an international quality label for festivals committed to the arts and their communities and maintains a searchable database called FestivalFinder.eu to promote excellence and innovation in the European festival landscape. Supported by the European Commission and European Parliament, EFFE fosters dialogue about the arts, aiming to increase their visibility and impact.

We are very pleased to announce more bookings for this year’s Uma Obscura! We give you Cat Rapes Dog, Big Fish and all the way from Spain: Larva!

Also adding to the art exhibition: Saturn and Eden!

Lot of news from Uma Obscura for the 2025 edition – coming October 17-18! We are proud to present the world-renowned Tribal Fusion dancer from Kiev Ukraine: Kira Lebedeva! The dance program will also feature among others the dance group Skadans Omfamning and aerial silk dancer Emelie Klein. We introduce the first art exhibitors with Östersund-based Moss – as well as bringing back pianist and composer Robin Lilja, who this time will challenge himself and the audience in an – partly – interactive performance! This and lots more to come at Uma Obscura – 2025!

Time flies and autumn is closing in. What could be better than to look forward to the coming edition of the northernmost alternative subculture festival of its kind! Uma Obscura launches October 17-18 and we now present the first bookings for this year!

This year is definitely a darker, gritty and visual Uma Obscura! We are proud to present a number of acts that have never before appeared in Umeå (and some never in Sweden!). First out is MISTER MISERY, who have a unique sound and style that captures the essence of many of the sub-genres in modern heavy music. From Finland comes KALLOMÄKI, who blends pagan metal and dark folk with a spectacular live performance. We also give you darkwave artist AUX ANIMAUX!

The Dance Obscura program starts off presenting two finnish well known dancers from the subcultural scene, Gothic & Metal Fusion Bellydancer Maria Morte and Dark Fusion dancer Anni Dohlen! We will also see the return of Ukrainian dancer Mila Balero as well as a performance by the Dark Dance Society.

Thank you for a fantastic edition of Uma Obscura 2024! It has been a truly magical weekend with great music and dance performances, as well as fantastic art exhibitions.

We wish to thank everyone who has participated, the wonderful audience and all crew members and partners who brought this year’s festival to life! You all know who you are – and without you there is no festival!

Uma Obscura returns in November 2024. This is the 10 year celebration of the festival since it morphed from Sunset Park into Uma Obscura back in 2014.

On December 22 we will release the film material from this year’s Uma Obscura on Youtube! From 12.00 (CET) and onwards there will be lots of concerts and dance performances, but also some footage from the art exhibitions and performances. In 2024 Uma Obscura will celebrate 10 years. But if we count the preceding event ”Sunset Park” that transformed into Uma Obscura in 2014, then we will celebrate 15 editions! We hope to see you then, because Uma Obscura is the community we form together as we transform reality and celebrate the alternative subculture scene.

We now release the first bookings for Uma Obscura 2023! We are proud to present a great line up for this year’s festival. First out we welcome back the EBM/futurepop-pioneers COVENANT, who return to Umeå after 10 years! We welcome legendary dancer ARIELLAH all the way from US, UK based bands AUGER and MEMENTO MORI and finally we have decided to unleash the MORLOCKS!

Uma Obscura returns to full scale in 2022, after two and a half years of waiting… The festival dates are November 18-19. More info will follow.

On October 16th 2021 we delivered Obscura Light, featuring a variety of high class alternative music and art. The concerts from Obscura Light – featuring Rået, Ljustörst and Robin Lilja – will now be broadcast on Youtube on January 15:th 2022.
