Dance workshop: Metal Bellydance with Diana Bastet
This workshop will give the participant a unique chance to learn how to use the belly dance vocabulary and learn one of Diana’s choreographies to famous old school metal.

Diana Bastet är en världskänd orientalisk dansare inom metalscenen och verkar internationellt som dansartist och danslärare. Hon bor i Sumy, Ukraina där hon har sin konstnärliga verksamhet som designer av danskostymer. Hon är känd för sina mäktiga och uttrycksfulla framträdanden där metalmusikens ljudlandskap och hennes unika egendesignade scenkostymer lyfter den orientaliska dansen till nya dimensioner!
Workshopen presenteras i samarbete med Nätverket för utveckling av subkulturell dans. Nätverket är en del av SUB – Riksförbundet För Subkultur, med stöd av Kulturrådet
Uma Obscura expands!
We can now disclose that Uma Obscura 2027 will expand with one more day! The festival begins already on Thursday, November 12! We will have a very special program this evening – that will be announced soon, but we can already disclose that Umeå based gothband Moonastrics will play this evening! So update your calendars and add another date to this year’s festival!
Dance Obscura expanding with Nordic theme!
This year’s dance program will also feature a Nordic theme where we bring in dancers and performers from all across! Adding to the line up we now give you Norwegian based Gerdana Dance Studio and Karna May, and we welcome back Finnish dancer Chaos Le Fairee and to top it of we have a collaborative piece called Fenris Project between Danish dancer Dud Muurmand and Finnish musician Marko Hautamäki! Stay tuned… there’s even more to come!
Chaos Bleak for Uma Obscura!
UK based goth-rockers Chaos Bleak will come to Sweden – to this years Uma Obscura festival! The band is a sort of ‘gothic super group’, comprising ex members of different underground 90s UK goth bands. Musically they bring all their experience to the table creating a highly spiced dish of adrenalin fuelled musical chaos!

Chaos Bleak
Chaos Bleak formed in March 2019 after conversations held between friends in a pub about what sort of music they wanted to do, and how to go about it! The band is a sort of ‘gothic super group’, comprising ex members of different underground 90s UK goth bands. Musically they bring all their experience to the table creating a highly spiced dish of adrenalin fuelled musical chaos!
The band do not follow the traditional Sisters of Mercy approach to goth, rather they simultaneously reach back to the post-punk period that predates SOM. A time of Killing Joke, Play Dead, Bauhaus, Siouxie and the Banshees. They also embrace the 90s technology driven sound of the German bands of that era such as The Garden of Delight, Still Patient? The House of Usher mixed in with even older, darker, heavier, and otherworldly sounds. Some of which are considered not of this Earth…
The result is music that is unrestrained, powerful, and varied. One reviewer described Chaos Bleak as a “Black Sabbath for the gothic generation”, another described the band as Space Rock meets the heaviest of Gothic Rock and another said that the band’s music has the potential to create “Earthquakes, spatial anomalies or in extreme cases rips in the very fabric of time itself.” High praise indeed!

Brittiska Chaos Bleak är något av en allstar-band med medlemmar från olika undergroundband från 90-talet. De bildades 2019 och har sedan dess gjort sig ett namn på den brittiska och europeiska scenen, där de spelat live frekvent.
Bandet har bland annat beskrivits som något av ett ”Black Sabbath för goth-generationen”, vilket är ett starkt uttalande, men deras mix av influenser från post-punk till 90-talets mer maskinellt drivna ljudbilder i kombination med bandets rötter och medlemmarnas bakgrund resulterar i detta adrenalin-drivna musikaliska kreativa kaos.
Moonastrics
Moonastrics is a new – but old-school – goth rock band based in Umeå. They blend feelings of sorrow, fear and uncertainty that comes form voices inside ones head, that results in a mystic and anxious soundscape. The songs will take you on a journey to the moon and back!

Karna May
Karna May is a visionary dancer, choreographer, and teacher with deep roots in Tribal Fusion and American Tribal Style. She is a founder and artistic director of Gerdana Dance Studio, the organizer of the Tribal Bonfire Festival, a frequent performer at international tribal festivals, and a guest artist at drag and gothic shows.

Lady Sara Noir is based in, Køge south of Copenhagen and has been DJ:ing since 2021 at clubs like Black Cat. With a huge passion for music she aims to bring a blend of old and new and loves to make people dance. Prepare for a mix of goth-rock, EBM, industrial, dark electro, darkwave, synthpop, futurepop, Neue Deutsche Härte, dark rock and more…

Fenris Project
The Fenris Project is a multidisciplinary performance art interpretation of the mythological tale of the Fenris wolf, symbolising the struggle between chaos and order. The music is being created by Marko in direct collaboration with Dud, who is designing the choreography and the visual expression of the costumes/scenography.
The project was born in the fall of 2025 where Dud and Marko met up at Alternativfesten and decided to join forces on mutual ideas. Most of the collaboration work between Dud and Marko has been online. The project has also been granted a residency Qlab at the Warehouse9 (multidisciplinary arts organisation, Cph) during July 2026.
Dud Muurmand (DK)
Copenhagen-based Dark Fusion dance artist Dud has worked professionally in dance for 30 years and have toured Europe and Scandinavia with workshops and performance projects. She works with the fusion of dance and storytelling, frequently drawing inspiration from Nordic history, mythology, and folklore.
Marko Hautamäki (FI)
Marko is a Finnish multi-instrumentalist, best known from bands Two Witches and Chaos Research, both of which have performed at Uma Obscura earlier editions. He has composed music for movies and video games, stylistically from metal to classical and is pioneering the use of electric cello in dark music scene. Lately he’s been looking into use of sound signals to achieve altered levels of consciousness.

Fenrisprojektet är ett konstnärligt samarbete mellan dansaren Dud Muurmand och musikern Marko Hautamäki där de gör en mulitdiciplinär tolkning av mytologiska berättelsen om Fenrisvargen som symboliserar kampen mellan kaos och ordning. Musiken har komponerats av Marko i direkt samarbete med Dud som skapat koerografi och det visuella uttrycket i kostym och scenografi.
Tankar på samarbete uppstod när de två artisterna möttes på Alternativfesten hösten 2025 och därefter har merparten av samarbetet har skett online. Därtill har Dud fått beviljat stöd genom ett residens Qlab på Warehouse9 (konstnärlig multidiciplinär organisation i Köpenhamn) under juli 2026.
Dud Muurmand är en Köpenhamnbaserad dansartist sedan 30 år som turnerat i Europa och Skandinavien med undervisning av dansworkshops och olika performance-projekt och varit återkommande gäst på Uma Obscura. Hon arbetar främst med fusion av dans och historieberättande där nordisk historia, mytologi och folklore är de främsta inspirationskällorna.
Marko Hautamäki är en finsk multi-instrumentalist och mest känd från banden Two Witches och Chaos Research, som båda gästat Uma Obscura tidigare. Han har komponerat musik till filmer och TV-spel med en bredd från klassiskt till metal. Han är en pionjär med elktronisk cello inom den mörkare musik scenen och har aldrig varit främmande för att experimentera.
Chaos Le Fairee 2026
Saija Heinonen (Chaos Le Fairee) is versatile queer artist and a dancer, with indian as the main dance style. Saija has been deeply invested in indian dance styles and culture in the past 15 years and have experience from bollywood to folk dances like kuthu, dandiya, garba, bhangra and in the past years kalbeliya, ghoomar and chari dance from Rajasthan. They perform also as a part of the dance group Nach Baliye Indian Dance. Saija is known for their very expressive dancing style and enchanting, wild energy when performing.
This time – for Uma Obscura – Saija will bring to the stage kalbeliya dance which is folk dance of kalbeliya tribe from deserts of Rajasthan. Kalbeliya dance is known from it’s snake inspired movement and costume, captivating twirling, different kinds of tricks and powerful expression and energy.

Saija Heinonen (Chaos Le Fairee) är en mångsidig queerartist och dansare från Finland som är känd för sin uttrycksfulla dans och framträdanden med hög energi.
De senaste 15 åren har Saija bland annat fördjupat sig inom de indiska danstilarna, både bollywood och folkdanser – och uppträder med dansgruppen Nach Baliye Indian Dance. Under årets Uma Obscura kommer Saija framföra en folkdans från Rajasthan, Kalbeliya, som är känd för orminspirerade rörelser och kostymer, en dans med kraftfullt uttryck och energi.
Murju-8
Murju-8 is a Finnish Cyberpunk project founded in 2022 by musician and producer Janette Salonen. Combining heavy electronic rhythms, industrial synthesisers, and cinematic orchestration, Murju-8 creates a distinctive blend of cyberpunk atmosphere and emotional storytelling.
Drawing inspiration from industrial music, dark electro, and film soundtracks, the project explores themes ranging from burnout and depression to first love, perseverance, and inner strength. The singles On Aika Huutaa and Vierasta Sikaa established Murju-8’s intense and personal approach, while Universal expanded the sonic palette with multilingual vocals, sweeping orchestral arrangements and introducing co-singer Stephanie Mazor.
Murju-8 has received praise for its powerful live performances, including an appearance at Helsinki Industrial Festival. With the release of the anthem Ikiyössä and a growing live presence, the project is now preparing its debut album, High Tech – Low Life, scheduled for late 2026.
Murju-8 will join the Uma Obscura line up. It will be the first time they play outside of Finland and for this performance Janette will be joined on stage by Stephanie Mazor!

The Black Capes
The Black Capes are a prominent gothic rock band from Athens, Greece. Throughout their career they have carved a distinct niche in the global underground, blending old-school gothic rock with modern elements.
Their three studio albums are filled with haunting melodies, crushing riffs and deep vocals. Evocative soundscapes and post punk anthems have landed them on the German alternative charts and resulted in features on major print publications like Metal Hammer, Rock Hard, Orkus etc.
The Black Capes are a captivating live act, having toured continental Europe and the UK sharing prominent stages with darkwave and goth heavyweights. Now they are invading Sweden for the very first time this November, so Umea: prepare for darkness!

We bring you the Danish legendary act Leæther Strip! They have been around since the 80’s and are still thriving as one of the most productive and most busy live acts in the scene!
And from Germany we bring you Antibody with their signature blend of industrial, power noise, and hardstyle/hardcore music!
Leather Strip
Leather Strip is the solo-project of the legendary Danish electronic industrial artist Claus Larsen. First signed by the German Electro Label Zoth Ommog in 1989, they quickly built a buzz as one of the most exciting emerging acts in Europe in the early 90’s.
Leæther Strip has been and still is a big inspiration to many of todays younger acts and is still one of the most productive and most busy live acts in the scene. Leæther Strip concerts are very uptempo and energetic, and he plays lots of his classic hits like ”Strap me down”, ”Dont tame your soul” and so many more.
First release 1989. ”Japanese Bodies”, and over 30 + albums has been released since then. Leæther Strip perfomances are known worldwide for their massive industrial energy and powerful stage presence. 2026 ill see 2-3 new album releases from Leæther Strip, and he will be touring all over the world to promote these albums. Leather Strip will attend Uma Obscura and Umeå for the first time!
