U.K. post-punk legends The Danse Society are celebrating 40 years across Europe with 7th album ‘Sailing Mirrors’ on its way. This year sees the 40th Anniversary of The Danse Society and in true Danse Society tradition, the band continues to reinvent darkness boldly with a completely new twist.

Founder member guitarist Paul Nash still leads the band, which regenerated 9 years ago with female lead singer Maeth. The Danse Society felt no male singer could be compared to Steve Rawlings and The Danse Society had never been a band to be restrained in a box. They say the band never reformed to be an impersonation of its past.

Fast forwarding, three albums have received critical acclaim, BBC6 Radio introducing the return as the best the band ever sounded, the band has toured in Finland, Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal, Italy and the US and long time and new Dansers are enjoying classics such as ”Danse Move”, ”Somewhere” and “We’re so happy” juxtaposed with the more recent ”If I were Jesus” and tracks from the new album like “Kill u later” “Valerio’s Theme” and “We fall”.

For the first time in the band’s history they will now play at Uma Obscura – it will also be their first performance in Sweden since 1983!

Brittiska postpunk-legenderna i The Danse Society kommer till Umeå och Uma Obscura! Bandet firar 40 år med en Europaturné samt ett sjunde album, ”Sailing Mirrors”, som är på gång. De har alltid utmanat och inte varit rädda för förändring och de fortsätter i den traditionen. Bandet återbildades för nio år sedan under ledning av grundaren och gitarristen Paul Nash, men då med sångerskan Maeth som frontfigur, efter att tidigare sångaren Steve Rawlings lämnat bandet.

De ville inte låta som ett band som försökte kopiera sig själva och de var inte rädda att prova något nytt. Detta resulterade i tre album som blivit prisade av kritiker. BBC6 Radio menade att det var bandets bästa sound genom tiderna. De har sedan dess hunnit turnera runtom i Europa och även USA.

I repertoaren tar de med sig klassiska låtar som ”Danse Move”, ”Somewhere” och ”We’re so happy” och blandar vilt med nyare material som ”Kill you later” och ”We fall”.

Det är första gången sedan 1983 som bandet spelar i Sverige!
